Description: This 6-hour workshop is designed for mental health clinicians who work with,
assess, or treat individuals involved in online sexual offending. As internet-facilitated sexual
offenses continue to increase, clinicians must be equipped with empirically informed tools and
strategies to evaluate risk, guide treatment planning, and support ethical and defensible clinical
decision-making. The workshop centers on the Child Pornography Offender Risk Tool (CPORT),
a structured risk assessment instrument developed specifically for individuals convicted of child
sexual abuse material offenses and related online sexual offenses. Participants will receive
step-by-step instruction in the administration, scoring, and interpretation of the CPORT, and will
learn how to integrate CPORT findings into broader risk assessments.
Topics include:
- The clinical and behavioral characteristics of online sexual offenders
- Static and dynamic risk factors relevant to online offending
- How to administer and interpret the CPORT
- Using CPORT results to inform treatment targets and level of care
- Case examples and applied exercises to build practical skills
*Please note that this is not an official CPORT sponsored certification program. Attendance will not result in any CPORT certification.Â
Learning Objectives:
- Recognize key risk factors associated with online sexual recidivism
- Identify what risk tools are available for non-contact offenders
- Discuss the development, validation, and revision of the CPORT
- Accurately score and interpret the CPORT
- Use CPORT findings to inform clinical case formulation and treatment planning
